LEARN SOME CHEROKEE
We read in the November 6th edition (premiere edition no.8555) of LibĂ©ration that American is “cool” again.
So why not learn an actual American language? Why not learn some Cherokee while you wait for the next Fiery Furnaces album?

Did you know, for instance, that the Cherokee word for centipede is pronounced “u ta nv-ka na ne s gi”?
Matt from the band is, of course, a Six Nations enthusiast: but Cherokee has the beautiful alphabet pictured above. So why not start with Cherokee?
Please send us your translations of Fiery Furnaces’ lyrics (preferably ones from Rehearsing My Choir onward) into Cherokee!
You may send them to thefieryfurnacesemail@gmail.com or our P.O. Box.

Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation
Now, perhaps, you think this is a rather random topic for a rock band website. But interest in these matters has an impeccable Rock-n-Roll pedigree:

Note the organist’s clever right-index-finger demonstration, or enactment rather, of Leslie technology at the end of the ‘performance’. Beautiful.
